Updated: Jun 10

What an incredible weekend celebrating community, resilience, and teamwork at the 3rd Annual Maine Strong Memorial Foundation Softball Tournament, presented by Hammond Lumber Company. This year, 27 teams came together once again to compete across the Ron Morin Memorial Fields in Lewiston and the Joe Walker & Tricia Asselin Memorial Fields in Auburn. The energy, sportsmanship, and support from everyone who participated made this year’s event one to remember.

Proceeds from the tournament go toward helping Maine families in crisis and supporting the Maine Resiliency Center, which continues to serve those affected by the October 25 tragedy in Lewiston. Every donation, swing, and show of support helps ensure that no family faces tragedy alone.

Thank You to Our Sponsors

We could not make this weekend possible without our incredible sponsors:

  • Presenting Sponsor: Hammond Lumber Company

  • Platinum Sponsor: Heat Pumps of Maine

  • Platinum Sponsor: Maine Family Federal Credit Union

  • Platinum Sponsor: C2 Vehicles

A special thank-you to Hammond Lumber Company, Heat Pumps of Maine, and Maine Family Federal Credit Union, who have proudly supported the tournament since the very beginning. Your continued partnership and belief in our mission help us make a lasting difference for Maine families impacted by unexpected tragedy.

Honoring and Supporting Our Community

The Maine Resiliency Center (MRC) joined us both days with a booth offering support and resources for anyone impacted by the Lewiston tragedy. They also put together a team in the tournament, serving as a powerful reminder of strength and connection through sport and community.

We were also honored to welcome the Love Always Wins booth, sharing their mission to create a memorial at Mollison Way dedicated to peace, remembrance, and healing.

Kids Zone Fun

Our Kids Zone, sponsored by United Insurance and Portland Inflatables, was a huge hit all weekend. From bounce houses and games to face painting and crafts, families enjoyed a space filled with laughter, creativity, and community spirit.

A Special Guest Appearance

Sunday brought a special treat when Slugger the Sea Dog stopped by. Slugger hit the field, made time for photos with players and fans, and visited the Kids Zone and MRC booth, spreading smiles everywhere he went.

A Huge Thanks to Our Food Trucks & Local Flavor

No tournament weekend is complete without great food. A big thank-you to our amazing food truck partners who kept everyone fueled up:

  • The Pit

  • Luck Cat Coffee

  • Yeti Dogs

  • Some-battus BBQ

  • Jeff’s Jamaican Cuisine

  • Rollin’ In The Dough

  • PB&Me

Special Thank You to the Maine Resiliency Center

We’d like to extend our deepest gratitude to the Maine Resiliency Center for being on-site all weekend, offering their unwavering support and resources to those affected by the October 25th shootings at Just-in-Time Recreation and Schemengees Bar and Grille. The center serves a wide range of people impacted by these events, including family, friends, and loved ones of those lost, first responders and medical personnel, individuals present at either location during the shootings, and any community members who feel affected. Their work within our community is invaluable, providing counseling, support, and resources to help individuals and families find strength in difficult times. If you or someone you know could benefit from their services, please reach out to them at 207-525-3930 or email them at info@maineresiliencycenter.org.

In Memory of Victims and in Support for Survivors and Their Families

We would like to take a moment to honor the victims, survivors, and their families. This tournament is dedicated to them, and we remain committed to providing support and fostering resilience within our community.

Until Next Year

Every swing, every cheer, and every act of kindness throughout the weekend reflected what it means to be Maine Strong. Thank you to all the players, volunteers, food vendors, and community members who showed up, played hard, and gave back.

We cannot wait to see you next year for the 4th Annual Maine Strong Memorial Foundation Softball Tournament!
